Ah, summer in San Francisco. Very foggy, especially for those of us on the west side of the city. Friends who visit from other parts of the country often find it very refreshing, a nice break from the summer heat.
One definite hypno-highlight of my summer was attending an Advanced Seminar in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy at HCH in Lafayette, CA. The focus of the seminar was on chronic pain management and medical applications of Hypnotherapy. Dr. John Parke, who is a gifted practitioner of Ericksonian techniques led the sessions. It was a treat to meet and work with so many Hypnotherapists, all with different styles. Sharing experiences and methods was extremely valuable as was the opportunity to practice and refine the techniques presented by Dr. Parke. Another major summer highlight came at the beginning of the summer when my wife Eva and I visited Taiwan and Hong Kong for 3 weeks. We traveled with friends who grew up in Taiwan, and were treated to the most amazing tour of the island. So many different climates and landscapes in one small place. From the almost tropical coastal areas to the mountainous interior with dramatic vistas, misty sunrises and deep green rows of tea planted on rolling hills populated by warm friendly people. Buddhist culture is a major force, and a constant source of learning and inspiration. And then, Taipei is a fast paced blast and the National Palace Museum is deep, deep, deep. I spent almost a whole day there. And I haven't even gotten into the food! We can’t wait to visit again. After Taiwan we visited family in Hong Kong and as usual had a fantastic, super-urban time there. Well, that’s it for now. See you in the next post, -g
