RELIEF FROM CHRONIC PAIN
Pain is a natural automatic response that alerts us to physical injury or lets us know that something in the body needs immediate attention.
There are two major categories of pain. Acute and chronic. Acute pain happens quickly and goes away once the cause is resolved. Chronic pain lasts longer and can continue even after the injury has been treated. It's a kind of "system error." The chronic pain signals are no longer useful because everything that could be done to alleviate the situation has already been done.
Often, the traditional practitioner can't do much for chronic pain except prescribe pain medication; which is not a sustainable long-term solution. There is, however, another way. If chronic pain causes issues for you in your daily life and you would like to free yourself from long-term pain, hypnotherapy can help.
Your perception of a painful sensation is affected by the meaning you attach to it, and how much you focus on it. You may fear that it will get worse, recall memories of past experiences, worry about the cause, etc. These things have a tremendous impact on how the painful sensation affects you.
And this is where hypnosis can have such a powerful beneficial affect. Hypnosis can help you change your perception of pain and morph it into a minor annoyance or even delete it from your awareness.
Let me give you some simple examples of how your kinesthetic (feeling) perceptions are routinely altered.
• Have you ever frantically looked all over the place for your glasses and then finally realized that you were wearing them? How could you forget a sensation that was so familiar?
• I bet you weren’t aware of the feeling of your shirt collar touching the back of your neck until I mentioned it just now.
• Have you ever gone to a lecture or performance and found the seat to be really uncomfortable? The more you thought about it, the more uncomfortable you got until the performance started; and then you got so absorbed in the performance that you forgot all about the uncomfortable seat!
You have this natural ability to change your perception of discomfort already. Our sessions will take this natural ability and amplify it in the way that will help you the most.
