Frequently Asked Questions
Can these techniques be used to improve something I'm already good at?
Yes! By working together to create positive suggestions and a plan for personal transformation, you can maximize your performance in any area. For instance performing arts or sports.
Will these techniques interfere with, or replace my existing medical treatments?
No. Hypnotherapy is not the practice of Medicine or Psychological counseling. I will never suggest that you discontinue any prescribed treatment or medications, as that is for a medical doctor to determine. We will work with your medical provider to make your treatments even more effective. Our work is not intended to take the place of standard medical procedures, but it is a powerful complement. Referrals are common at Rising Star for things such as stop smoking, chronic pain relief, preparing for surgery or childbirth, etc.
What is your approach to coaching?
Coaching can be used very effectively in conjunction with Hypnotherapy. For example, let's say you have a big exam coming up. During the coaching part of the session, we may devise a plan of study that takes into account your schedule and the material that needs to be covered. We create the plan together. Then we can organize a study schedule with strategies for covering the material effectively. This is similar to the way a personal trainer might work with you at the gym. Hypnotherapy techniques can then be used to make this plan flow easily as well as to maximize your performance on the exam and make it an enjoyable experience. This model is quite effective and can be applied to many goals and issues.
Are the processes safe?
Yes! We enter various trance states all the time, naturally. For example, when we drive on "autopilot" or when we are totally engrossed in a movie or other activity. Therapeutic Hypnosis is based on a similar state, but with much more focus and intent. You will find it to be an extremely enjoyable and fascinating experience. Profound positive change can happen even in lighter stages of trance. The most important thing is to be open to the process, and free of any fears about it. Hypnosis and related techniques are now available to patients at some of the most respected medical institutions in the country, including Stanford Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic, Mount Sinai Medical Center and Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. At Rising Star, we will work together to establish your desired outcome, then your sessions and program will be tailored to your personal situation.
