GET RID OF IRRATIONAL FEARS AND ANXIETY
Fear is a powerful emotion that often serves a useful purpose. It's an effective survival mechanism. It makes us aware that a potential threat might be close by. When we have a healthy relationship to fear, we can allow it to serve this function and even let it motivate or inspire us to do something great, to stretch our boundaries.
But there is a different experience of fear that serves no useful purpose and might be diminishing your quality of life. These are fears that become unreasonable and irrational. They can make it hard for you to do the things you want to do.
These types of fears can include: unreasonable fear of driving, of plane flights, of crossing bridges, of enclosed spaces, of elevators, public speaking, spiders, heights, social situations, musical performance, abandonment-- the list goes on. Why do we develop these fears? Typically something threatening happens and you have a reaction. If the emotional charge is strong enough, your brain takes a "snapshot" of that threat and from that point on, anything that remotely resembles it will trigger an automatic response. Sometimes it's a series of similar events rather than one event that results in the automatic response.
The amazing thing about these fears is that they illustrate the power of your brain to learn and respond without your conscious intervention. The good news is that you can get rid of the automatic response very quickly under the right circumstances. Even if you've had it for a very long time.
At Rising Star we provide those circumstances. Whether in the treatment room or online sessions, we work together to dissolve these negative responses and create positive, empowering, uplifting responses instead.
If the fear is interrupting the flow of your life, and there is no positive purpose to it, why keep it? Our techniques can offer a wonderful way to let it go.
