GET RID OF IRRATIONAL FEARS AND ANXIETY
Fear is a powerful emotion that often serves a useful purpose. It's an effective survival mechanism. It makes us aware that a potential threat might be close by. When we have a healthy relationship to fear, we can allow it to serve this function and even let it motivate or inspire us to do something great, to stretch our boundaries. But there is a different experience of fear that serves no useful purpose and might be diminishing the quality of your life. These are fears that become unreasonable and irrational. They can make it hard for you to do the things you want to do. These types of fears can include: unreasonable fear of driving, of plane flights, of crossing bridges, of enclosed spaces, of elevators, public speaking, spiders, heights, social situations, musical performance, abandonment-- the list goes on. Why do we develop these fears? They always begin with a positive intention. Unconscious processes in your brain are trying to protect you. There may be an initial sensitizing event with a strong emotional charge, or a series of sensitizing events that build the response. The amazing thing about these fears is that they illustrate the power of your brain to learn and respond without your conscious intervention. It quickly learns about potential threats and sends the fear signal to alert your protective responses. The good news is that just as quickly as you encoded the trigger for that fear, you can also release it just as quickly under the right circumstances. And at Rising Star we provide those circumstances. In the comfort of our treatment rooms or online sessions, we work together to dissolve these negative responses and create positive, empowering, uplifting responses instead. If the fear is interrupting the flow of your life, and there is no positive purpose to it, why keep it? Our techniques can offer a wonderful way to let it go. |
